CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 18 Virginia field hockey team (4-6, 1-3 ACC) travels to play at No. 4 Duke (9-3, 2-1 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
 
The game will stream on ACC Network Extra, which is available to authenticated subscribers of ESPN3 through WatchESPN and the ESPN app. Fans can also keep up with the action through live stats linked at VirginiaSports.com.
 
This will be the Cavaliers’ third-straight match this season against a top-10 team and sixth overall. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 18 in this week’s Penn Monto/NFHCA poll while Duke remained the No. 4 team.
 
This will also be the third-straight Atlantic Coast Conference game for the Cavaliers who fell 3-0 at No. 1 North Carolina last Wednesday (Sept. 26) and 2-0 at home on Saturday (Sept. 29) against No. 8 Louisville.
 
Freshman Grace Wallis (Blue Bell, Pa.) leads the team in points (13), goals (4) and assists (5). Sophomore Makayla Gallen (Glen Mills, Pa.) has seven points with three goals and an assist. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Carrera Lucas (Brooklandville, Md.) has made a conference-leading 48 saves this season, averaging 4.80 per game.
 
Virginia has a 1.46 goals-against average this season while opponents are netting 1.66 goals per game against the Blue Devils.
 
Last week, Duke logged a 3-2 win over Wake Forest and an 8-0 victory at Appalachian State. Two Blue Devils have reached 20 points this season: Rose Tynana with 23 and Caroline Andretta with 20. Each has scored nine goals.  
 
Virginia leads the all-time series, 36-19. Last season, the then-No. 10 Cavaliers topped then-No. 1 Duke, 4-1, in a Sept. 8 game in Charlottesville.
 
Virginia returns home to host Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. Sunday’s contest will be the Cavaliers’ Think Pink game. Admission is free for all of Virginia’s regular-season home field hockey games.
