CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.— Five former Virginia rowers shined at the World III in Lucerne, Switzerland.
 
Christine Roper (Class of 2011) and Susanne Grainger (Class of 2013) helped Canada to a silver medal in the women’s eight.
 
American Kristine O’Brien (Class of 2013) earned a pair of bronze medals in the women’s pair and women’s eight, while Meghan O’Leary (Class of 2008) also competed for the U.S. and earned bronze in the women’s double sculls. American Erin Briggs (Class of 2017) placed fourth in the women’s four.
 
Roper and Grainger earned CRCA second-team All-America honors at UVA in 2011 and 2013, respectively. O’Brien was a three-time All-ACC and All-American selection. Roper, Grainger and O’Brien helped Virginia to NCAA team championships in 2010 and 2012.
 
O’Leary is a former two-sport athlete at UVA, competing in softball and volleyball. She began rowing in 2010. Briggs earned CRCA second-team All-America honors in 2016 and All-ACC first-team accolades in 2017.
