CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Virginia men’s tennis junior Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) has been named the ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Singles Player of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (April 9) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Söderlund picked up a pair of wins over ranked opponents last week, including a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win on Sunday over Miami’s Adria Soriano Barrera, who is currently ranked No. 36. He also downed No. 39 Lucas Poullain of Florida State on Friday. Söderlund also went 2-0 in doubles, helping UVA clinch the doubles points in a pair of road wins against ranked opponents.

Söderlund, along with Carlos Divar of Georgia Tech, were named the co-players of the week. Divar and Phillip Gresk were voted as the doubles team of the week.

This is Söderlund’s third time earning the conference’s weekly honor for singles this year. He was voted the doubles player of the week once last year. This is the fourth time this season that a Cavalier has been named the ACC Singles Player of the Week as freshman Brandon Nakashima (San Diego, Calif.) has also earned the accolade.
