Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the University Division Women’s Golf All-State Teams today (June 21). Virginia senior Anna Redding and first-year head coach Ria Scott claimed 2019 Golfer of the Year and Coach of the Year honors respectively, while Old Dominion’s Jana Melichova was chosen as Rookie of the Year.
Redding repeated as the player of the year and picked up all-state honors for the fourth time during her career. An honorable mention All-America by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association, she previously was named to the All-ACC team and the All-ACC Academic squad. She led UVA in stroke average (72.85) this season and ranked No. 32 in the final Golfstat rankings.
Scott guided Virginia to a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Championships in her first season with the Cavaliers. She opened her career at UVA with a team win at Michigan State’s Mary Fossum Invitational. She saw Virginia post seven top-4 finishes throughout the season and she capped off the year by helping coach the International Team to victory at the Palmer Cup.
ODU and UVA placed two other golfers on the all-state squad. Cavalier sophomore Beth Lillie earned first-team honors for the second consecutive year while Monarch senior Charlotte De Corte was named to the All-VaSID team for the first time. Seniors Katharine Patrick (UVA) and Sana Tufail (ODU) were second-team selections and named all-state for the first time during their careers.
