CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior goalkeeper Charlie Campbell (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday (Feb. 26).

Campbell had 19 saves with a 7.24 goals against average in UVA’s wins over Richmond and then-No. 9 Princeton last week. Campbell matched her career-high with 12 saves in 47 minutes as the Cavaliers topped Richmond 19-5. She allowed just four goals in the contest. UVA held the Spiders without goals in two 20-minute spans.

Campbell then picked up seven saves to help Virginia to a 14-9 win over Princeton. With the game tied 6-6, Campbell recorded two saves, including one on a free position that led to a UVA goal. The game was tied once again, when Campbell stopped a free position shot and the Cavaliers began a 5-0 run to win the game.

This is the first ACC weekly honor for Campbell.
