CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday (April 23) its All-ACC and All-Freshman teams which include a total of eight Cavaliers. Including Morgan Schwab, Maggie Bostain, Katia Carnevale, Mackenzie Hoeg, Kiki Shaw, Madison Alaimo, Jenna Dinardo and Kate Galica.

Schwab was named to the All-ACC first team while Bostain, Carnevale, Hoeg and Shaw were honored as All-ACC second team members. Alaimo, Dinardo and Galica were All-Freshman selections. Virginia’s five selections to the All-ACC teams mark its highest total since 2018.

In her senior season, Tewaaraton nominee, Schwab picks up first team All-ACC honors for the first time in her career while on pace to turn in her best statistical season to-date. With 50 assists on the season, Schwab has set a single-season career-high on her way to setting UVA records for career assists (148) and single-game assists (8, vs Richmond).

Bostain has been a pillar of a stout Virginia defense in 2024 which has held its opponents to an average of just 10.19 goals per-game. She leads the team with 26 caused turnovers and is tied for the team lead with 26 ground balls. Bostain was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List on March 28 and makes her first appearance on the All-ACC second team.

A graduate transfer out of Lehigh, Carnevale has been an offensive catalyst leading the team with her total of 46 goals on the season. Averaging 2.88 goals-per-game, Carnevale has recorded nine hat tricks this season with a season-high of six goals in a 19-10 win over Pitt (March 16). Most recently, a five-goal second-half performance from Carnevale lifted UVA to a 14-12 win over Virginia Tech (April 17) Carnevale was honored by the Tewaaraton Foundation being named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List on March 28.

Hoeg makes her first appearance on the All-ACC second team after another year of consistent play on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field. Named to the Tewaaraton Foundation’s initial watch list (Feb. 15), Hoeg has put up 40 goals on the season to-date and ranks 11th in NCAA Division I with a shot percentage of .606. The midfielder has also contributed 12 caused turnovers, 12 draw controls and 18 ground balls. Hoeg has scored multiple goals in all but two games in 2024.

Shaw makes her first appearance on the All-ACC second team. The fifth-year senior has accounted for 28 goals and nine assists for a total of 37 points. A key factor in Virginia’s biggest moments this season, Shaw has tallied multiple goals in wins over No. 6 James Madison (March 20), and No. 3 Boston College (April 13). She matched a career-high with four goals in a win over Virginia Tech (April 17).

Virginia’s three selections to the All-Freshman team are most in program history. Jenna Dinardo (33g, 8a) has led UVA’s freshmen with 33 goals on the season, just one short of matching the 10th best total for a Cavalier in their freshman season. Madison Alaimo (22 assists) and Kate Galica (76 Draw Controls) each set UVA single-season freshman records.
