February 3 is National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Usually, there is a ceremony at JPJ during a women’s basketball game to celebrate the achievements of some of the amazing women who have walked these Grounds. This year, UVA’s celebration went virtual, as did most other organizations. Among those being honored was Jenny Boucek, one of the first female coaches in the NBA. @UVAWomensHoops head coach Tina Thompson was also recognized by the Naismith Hall of Fame in their celebratory Tweet.
To those who paved the pathway for our favorite game, thank you! Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day. #NGWSD pic.twitter.com/qRsbAKF7JZ
