CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia redshirt senior Sam Hauser (Stevens Point, Wis.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday (Feb. 8).

Hauser averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as then-No. 14 Virginia (13-3, 9-1 ACC) posted victories over NC State (64-57) and Pitt (73-66).

Hauser scored 18 points along with five rebounds in the Cavaliers’ road win at NC State on Feb. 3. He went 5 of 11 from the field (2 of 6 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the win over the Wolfpack.

Hauser tallied a season-high 23 points on 8 of 9 shooting, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, along with six rebounds in the win over the Panthers on Feb. 6.

In the two victories, Hauser shot 13 of 20 from the field, 5 of 10 from 3-point range and 10 of 10 from the charity stripe.

Hauser leads the Cavaliers in scoring (15.4 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg) and 3-pointers (39).

No. 9 Virginia travels to Georgia Tech on Wednesday (Feb. 10). Tipoff at McCamish Pavilion is set for 7 p.m. on Regional Sports Networks and Virginia Sports Radio Network.
