Charlottesville, VA – The No. 5 Virginia women’s golf team returns to action Feb. 21-22 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. An 11-team field will compete at the par-72, 6,021-yard Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Turtle Point course.

Sunday’s play will feature 36 holes of competition that get underway at 8 a.m. from the first and 10th tees. Monday’s final round also starts at 8 a.m. from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.

The field for the event includes (Golfstat ranking) Clemson, College of Charleston, Duke, East Carolina, Furman, Indiana, North Carolina, NC State, No. 19 Virginia Tech and No. 7 Wake Forest.

The Palmetto Intercollegiate, which began in 1999, will be played for the seventh time in the history of the tournament at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Turtle Point course. Host College of Charleston

UVA will field the same lineup from its first two matches of the season – senior Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.), junior Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.), sophomores Virginia Bossi (Como, Italy) and Celeste Valinho (Jacksonville, Fla.) and freshman Jennifer Cleary (Wilmington, Del.).

Bossi led the Cavaliers with an 11th-place finish at the Moon Golf Invitational. She equaled her low round (70), low tournament score (-2, 214) and had her best collegiate place finish at the event. Valinho leads UVA with a 71.50 stroke average while Lillie is right behind here at 71.67. Valinho ranks No. 27 in this week’s Golfstat individual standings while Lillie is in 31st position.
