ROLAND, Ark. – The fourth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team was in fifth place at the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark., when the second round was suspended due to darkness.

UVA shot 10-over 298 during the morning round to share the tournament lead with LSU. In the second round the Cavaliers dropped back to fifth place when they stood at 13-over par when play stopped. LSU was leading the event at 12-over when play was halted.

UVA junior Virginia Bossi was tied for third place at 3-over when play was suspended. LSU’s Carla Tejedo was leading the field at 2-under par. Virginia’s Celeste Valinho was tied for 12th place at 6-over par. Both Bossi and Valinho shot 1-over 73 during the morning round.

The second round will conclude Tuesday following by the final round of stroke play. The six teams in the field will pair up for match play on Wednesday.
