CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia was selected fourth by a vote of the media in the ACC Men’s Basketball 2021-22 Preseason Poll, announced Tuesday (Oct. 19).

Duke is the preseason favorite, followed by Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech in the top five.

ACC preseason voters selected Louisville sixth, followed by Syracuse, Notre Dame, NC State and Georgia Tech. Clemson was picked 11th, while Miami, Wake Forest, Pitt and Boston College rounded out the voting.

The Cavaliers were selected first in the ACC Operation Basketball 2020-21 Preseason Poll and finished first (13-4) in the standings. The Cavaliers have finished at or higher than their predicted finish in 12 of the last 13 seasons.

UVA point guard Kihei Clark was joined on the preseason All-ACC second team by Michael Devoe (Georgia Tech), Prentiss Hubb (Notre Dame), Mark Williams (Duke), Wendell Moore Jr. (Duke), Malik Williams (Louisville) and Caleb Love (North Carolina).

Virginia opens the regular season Tuesday, Nov. 9 vs. Navy. Tipoff at John Paul Jones Arena is set for 9 p.m.
