Cavaliers Finish Play at Virginia Tech Halloween Clash
BLACKSBURG, Va. – Four members of the Virginia men’s tennis team are competing at the Virginia Tech Halloween Clash Friday through Sunday, Oct. 29-31, in Blacksburg, Va.
Jackson Allen, Bar Botzer, Gianni Ross and William Woodall will be competing in singles and doubles at the tournament against players from Virginia Tech, Radford and ETSU.
Botzer won all three of his singles matches and all three of his doubles matches to lead the Cavaliers. Ross went 2-for-2 in singles and in doubles, but did not play on Sunday,
On Friday, Botzer and Ross won their doubles opener 7-6 (6) against Virginia Tech’s Fishback and Sculley. Botzer topped Fishback 6-4, 6-4 in singles while Gianni Ross won 6-2, 6-1 against the Hokies’ Alvaro Ariza.
On Saturday, the Cavaliers won both doubles matches and three singles matches against players from Radford.
On Sunday, Botzer and Allen teamed up for a 6-1 doubles win against ETSU. Botzer also closed out the tournament with his third singles win, downing Frazier Rengifo of ETSU 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
