LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (10-5) defeated No. 22 Dickinson (3-10) to secure a win in the opening match of the 2021 Mid Atlantic Squash Conference Championships on Friday evening at Lancaster Country Day School.

Less than one week prior to the MASC opener, Virginia concluded its regular season with a 9-0 route of the Red Devils in Charlottesville. The scene in Lancaster painted a similar picture as the Hoos dispatched Dickinson in another 9-0 sweep.

Will Holey led things off for the Cavaliers with an opening victory over Dickinson’s Benjamin Gemma (11-4, 11-4, 11-5). Aly Hussein clinched the victory for the Wahoos with his tenth consecutive win. The Egyptian toppled Nicolas Serna in the first position on the ladder by a score of 11-5, 11-4, 11-2.

With the win, Virginia is now one victory away from competing in its third consecutive MASC Championship Final.
