CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis sophomore Chris Rodesch and head coach Andres Pedroso came away with the Player and Coach of the Year awards for the 2022 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State University Division, the organization announced Tuesday (July 5).

ITA All-American Rodesch was named the 2022 VaSID All-State Player of the Year after helping the Cavaliers win the ACC regular-season title, ACC Championship, and NCAA Championship. Rodesch finished the season at No. 20 ranking in the final ITA Singles rankings, No. 27 and 31 in doubles, and earned All-ACC First Team honors. He was also named to the VaSID All-State first team for singles and twice for doubles.

Head coach Andres Pedroso, the ITA National Coach of the Year, led UVA to an ACC and NCAA Championship with a 28-5 overall record and their second consecutive 12-0 record in ACC play. Pedroso also picked up ACC Coach of the Year and ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year honors.

In addition to the major awards, Virginia earned 11 total selections to the VaSID All-State First and Second Teams. Rodesch, Jeffrey von der Schulenburg, Ryan Goetz, Inaki Montes, Bar Botzer, and Gianni Ross each earned at least one selection to a 2022 VaSID All-State team.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
