MELBOURNE – Virginia swimmers Kate Douglass and Alex Walsh added another gold medal to their haul at the 2022 FINA World Short Course Championships on Wednesday night.

The duo swam as part of Team USA’s 4×50-meter freestyle relay. Douglass anchored the relay to an American and championship record time of 1:33.89 to win gold. Douglass closed the relay with a 22.77. She was one of just two swimmers in the field to split a sub-23 50 free, with the only other being Australia’s Emma McKeon (22.73).

Team USA entered the finals as the third seed. Walsh anchored UVA’s prelim relay that finished in 1:36.17 to earn gold with the rest of Team USA’s 4×50 free relay team.
