No. 5 Virginia Hosts No. 1 Ohio State Saturday at Noon
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 5 Virginia men’s tennis team (7-1) hosts No. 1 Ohio State (10-0) on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS
- Virginia dipped to No. 5 in the latest ITA Team Rankings after being edged 4-3 by then-No. 5 Kentucky last Friday. Ohio State moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 in this week’s poll. Kentucky is now ranked No. 2
- Chris Rodesch missed the Kentucky match to compete in a Davis Cup tie. He helped lead Luxembourg to a 4-1 victory against South Africa, including winning a singles match on the first day of play to give his nation a then 2-0 lead
- In the first updated singles rankings since the start of dual match season, Rodesch is No. 29 and Jeffrey von der Schulenburg is No. 30. Iñaki Montes is No. 70
- Rodesch is ranked No. 20 in doubles when partnering with Ryan Goetz and No. 42 alongside Bar Botzer
- Von der Schulenburg has won his last seven singles matches, going 7-0 in duals. He is 12-3 overall this season
- Rodesch has won five straight and is 5-0 in duals with an 11-3 overall record
- Montes is also perfect in duals with a 5-0 record and a 10-3 overall mark
NOTING OHIO STATE
- This is the first time the Buckeyes have been ranked No. 1 since spending 13 weeks ranked No. 1 at the end of the 2019 season
- Five Buckeyes are ranked in the singles and doubles rankings. JJ Tracy leads the way as he is ranked No. 9 in singles and No. 1 in doubles with Andrew Lutschaunig
- Ohio State is coming off a 4-3 win on Thursday night at No. 9 Wake Forest
- Virginia leads the all-time series 9-6. The teams have split the last eight meetings dating back to 2012. The Buckeyes swept Virginia 4-0 last season in Columbus.
