CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country programs are set for their season-opening races as the Cavaliers travel to Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. to compete in the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday (Sept. 1)

Rankings
The Virginia men enter the campaign ranked No. 10 in the USTFCCCA preseason poll while the women’s team checked in at No. 11.  The Cavalier men were picked to finish third in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Virginia women were picked fourth.

Panorama Farms and XC23 
The meet will mark a crucial campaign for the Cavaliers that will feature spectacular talent competing on their home course. Virginia will host the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 18 at Panorama Farms. The 2023 championships will mark just the second time Virginia has hosted the event and the first time since the 1987 championships.

In the build-up to the NCAA Championships, the Cavaliers host a pair of meets at Panorama Farms. The home schedule begins with the Virginia Invitational (Sept. 23) featuring a highly competitive field including many of the qualifying teams from the 2022 championships. Virginia will also host the XC23 Pre-National (Oct. 14) which will serve as an opportunity for NCAA Division I teams from across the country to preview the course for the 2023 NCAA Championships.
