CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A total of 19 Virginia men’s and women’s cross country runners were named to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Cross Country team, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Friday (Feb. 2).

A total of 11 Virginia women were honored including Margot Appleton, Sophie Atkinson, Lizzy Bader, Gillian Bushee, Cate DeSousa, Lila Fenner, Luci Ilnicki-Lambert, Camryn Menninger, Jenny Schilling, Caroline Timm, and Anna Workman.

On the men’s side honorees include Will Anthony, Jack Eliason, Jacob Hunter, Nick Karayianis, Gary Martin, Nate Mountain, Wes Porter and Justin Wachtel.

Multi-time selections include Appleton, Atkinson, Ilnicki-Lambert, Menninger, Workman, Anthony, Eliason, Hunter, Karayianis, Martin, Mountain, Porter and Wachtel.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
