2003: Served as one of Virginia[apos]s weekend starters … Season was cut short due to an injury … Began the season in the weekend rotation … Made his first career appearance and start as a true freshman for Virginia, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out a game-high four batters against #20 Auburn (2/15) … Earned his first collegiate win by pitching 5.2 innings, allowing only one run on four hits while striking out two batters in Virginia[apos]s 9-2 win over Duke (3/22) … Recorded his second win of the season by pitching 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out six batters in Virginia[apos]s 4-1 victory over #20 Clemson in Clemson, S.C. (4/5) – the loss was Clemson[apos]s first home loss of the season and broke the Tigers[apos] 16-0 record at home … Pitched a season-high 6.2 innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on three hits while striking out eight batters against #12 Richmond (3/3) … Pitched 5.1 innings and struck out one batter against #4 Florida State (3/15) … Went 6.0 innings and allowed just one run on two hits in Virginia[apos]s 4-2 victory over Maryland (3/29).

Prep & Personal: Earned four letters in baseball for coach Gary Spedden at Ocean Lakes … Named a 2002 First Team All-Beach District choice and was selected a Second Team All-Region player … Helped guide Ocean Lakes to a second place finish in the 2001 Virginia AAA State Tournament and was named a First Team All-District, All-Region and All-Tidewater choice while being tabbed the District Player of the Year in 2001 … Second Team All-State choice in 2001 … Earned First Team All-Beach District honors and was named a Second Team All-Tidewater and All-Region player in 2000 … Set the Ocean Lakes ERA record in 2000 with a 1.17 ERA – Only to shatter his own mark a year later with a school-record 0.69 ERA in 2001.
