BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) – Tere Williams had 21 points and 10 rebounds Mondaynight as Virginia Tech defeated 15th-ranked Virginia 81-65.
The Cavaliers, down by a point at halftime, went scoreless for the firstfive minutes after intermission while the Hokies mounted a 14-0 run.
Williams scored six points during the decisive spurt and finished 9-for-10from the field. Amy Wetzel added 19 points for Virginia Tech, including11-of-13 from the foul line, and Lisa Witherspoon had nine assists and fivesteals.
Michelle Houseright scored 14 points for the Hokies (5-0), who shot 57percent from the field. Virginia (3-2) shot only 31 percent.
The Cavaliers were led by DeMya Walker with 15 points and eight rebounds.Erin Stovall added 14 points, and Lisa Hosac had 13.
