CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia’s Ashley Widger (Berwyn,Pa./Conestoga) and Jessica Hull (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) were both named tothe USLacrosse All-American teams today, with Widger being named to thefirst team and Hull being named to the honorable mention squad.

Ashley Widger is celebrating her insertion into the starting lineupby being a stalwart in the defense. She ranks second in caused turnoversand ground balls. Ashley has been instrumental in starting many a fastbreak which has led to a Virginia score. Widger was named the team MVP atthe Virginia All-Sports banquet earlier this week. She is also therecipient of the Betty and Money Yates Award, which recognizes the VirginiaLacrosse Players whose standards of excellence and play epitomize the idealof Virginia Lacrosse. This is Widger’s first time on the All-Americansquad. She was also named to the IWLCA All-American first team.

Hull ranked second on the team in scoring in 1999, leading the teamin scoring in five games and netting the game winner in five of Virginia’s15 wins, which led the team. One of the 1999 captains, she also rankedsixth in ground ball pickups. Hull closed out her career with 101 points,which ranks 19th all-time in Virginia history. This is her first appearanceon the USLacrosse All-American squad.
