CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The IWLCA Poll Committee has released the eighth weeks rankings for the NCAA Division I lacrosse field for 1998. Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons. The University of Virginia Cavaliers remained at the top of the polls following their two wins this week. The Cavaliers garnered all nine first place votes for the second week in a row. The IWLCA Division I Poll for April 27, 1998 is as follows (with current records, poll points, first place votes, and last week’s position)

Dartmouths overtime victory over Princeton vaulted the Big Green to the top five for the first time this season. Delawares victory over Penn State moved them into the top-12 for the first time this season as well. The final week of the season still promises some great top-15 action. Top-ranked Virginia travels to 4 Loyola on Tuesday and new 5 Dartmouth hosts 10 Duke as well. Third-ranked Maryland travels to 7 Princeton on Wednesday while 14 Yale and 15 Rutgers tangle that day as well. On Thursday, the Big Green host their second consecutive ACC opponent in 2 North Carolina while 9 Georgetown and 11 Temple meet in our nations capital for a contest. On Selection Sunday, 3 Maryland and 4 Loyola will meet in Baltimore and the America East finals will take place down the road at Towson.
