CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Taz Carrington, an athletic ticket office specialist at the University of Oregon since June of 1998, has been named Assistant Ticket Manager in the athletic department at the University of Virginia by Dick Mathias, UVa’s assistant athletic director for ticket office management.

Carrington will manage Virginia’s Paciolan computer system, and will work with Mathias in the areas of football and men’s basketball. He replaces Corbin Hunt who left Virginia earlier this month to become the Director of Athletic Ticket Operations at the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to joining the staff at Oregon, Carrington was an intern in the athletic ticket office at Wake Forest University from 1997-98 and was an intern in the UVa athletic ticket office from 1996-97. He was also a management information systems operator with Plow & Hearth, Inc., (1993-95) in Madison, Va., and a special education teacher (1992-93) in Roanoke, Va.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in history from Virginia in 1991 and a master of sports management degree from the University of Richmond in 1997.

“Taz Carrington’s experience in two other Division I-A athletic departments, in addition to his familiarity with the University of Virginia, will assist him tremendously in performing his duties in our office,” Mathias said. “We are extremely pleased to have him join our staff.”

Carrington and his wife, Sarah, have one son.

He will start at UVa on June 14.
