DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team, ranked No. 3 in the country,recorded its eighth-straight win with an 8-1 victory over Virginia onSaturday. The win is the Blue Devils’ 109th consecutive another ACC teamand the 78th-consecutive regular season conference win. With the victory,Duke’s overall record improves to 18-3 and 7-0 in the conference, while theCavaliers drop to 10-7 overall and 1-4 in the ACC.

The Blue Devils secured five singles wins and swept the doubles action.Sophomore Christie Schweer was the only Cavalier to record a victory.Playing out of position due to an injury to Amy O’Donnell, Schweer moved upone spot in the line-up and defeated Duke senior Karen Goldstein 7-5, 6-4at #4. The win was Schweer’s fourth in a row and her fourth ACC win againstjust one loss.
