Charlottesville, Va.– Running back Thomas Jones and defensive end Patrick Kerney were named the ACC Players of the Week for their respective positions. These were the results in voting by a panel of media members representing the ACC area.

Jones, a junior from Big Stone Gap, Va., had a career-high 35 rushing attempts in Virginias 30-13 win over North Carolina on Nov. 14. He racked up 180 yards rushing for a 5.1 average per try. Jones scored one of the Cavalier touchdowns in marking his seventh game this season with over 100 yards rushing. Jones also caught two passes for 13 yards.

Kerney led the Cavalier defensive linemen with seventh tackles, four of them solo. The senior defensive end from Newtown, Pa., had two quarterback sacs that totalled a minus 12 yards and had another tackle for a loss of four yards. He also blocked the Tar Heels first field goal attempt of the game and caused one fumble.

Other ACC Player of the Week winners Marylands John Waerig was named Offensive Lineman of the Week, Marylands Cliff Crosby was tabbed the Defensive Back of the Week and Mayrlands Randall Jones was the Rookie of the Week.
