Football Newcomers Report on August 7

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Head football coach George Welsh welcomes 24 newcomers to the University of Virginia on Friday (August 7) as the Cavaliers begin preparations for the 1998 season. The upperclassmen are scheduled to report on Tuesday (August 11).

The newcomers will have an academic orientation on Tuesday. Workouts for the newcomers are also scheduled before the upperclassmen report. Practice sessions for the entire team are scheduled to begin on August 13.

Virginia opens its 1998 season at Auburn University on September 3 (Thursday). The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.
