Charlottesville, Va. – College Lacrosse USA, the largest Internet site for collegiate lacrosse information announced its third annual preseason All American teams this weekend and four Virginia players received mention on the honor squads. Three teams(I, II, and HM) are chosen by the editors of CLUSA.

Third-year defenseman RYAN CURTIS (5-10, 180, from Potomac, MD) was chosen to the first team. He was a preseason second team choice last year, and he finished the season on the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association second team as well. He was UVa’s top defender last year. He was also ninth in voting for player of the year.

Three Cavaliers were chosen to the Honorable Mention team. Attackman DREW McKNIGHT(third-year, 5-9, 180, Virginia Beach) repeated hi s preseason selection from last year, and he was a USILA HM choice last year as well. He scored 19+23=43 and was UVa’s third-leading scorer. Fourth -year attackman TUCKER RADEBAUGH(5-11, 185, Glen Arm, MD) was a preseason HM choice last year as a midfielder. He played attack last year, winning USILA HM honors(1997 and 1998), being UVas leading scorer(30+26=56), and winning UVas top two lacrosse awards(Gaver award for leadership and Voshell award as team MVP). Both are expected to start on attack Ragain this year. Both are also tri-captains for 1999.

The third Cavalier HM choice is third-year midfielder JAY JALBERT(6-2, 205, Huntington, NY), who was UVa’s second leading scorer in 1998 on attack with 34+14=48. He was a preseason HM choice on attack, and he also made postseason AA HM honors from the USILA.

After an 8-5 mark in 1998. UVa opens the 1999 season at Syracuse, March 6, in the Carrier Dome.
