CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The #18 ranked Duke Blue Devils defeated the #55 ranked Virginia men’s tennis team 5-2 this afternoon at Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center. Initially Duke captured the doubles point, then used this momentum to win four of the six singles matches. The loss drops the Cavaliers to 12-6 (3-3 in the ACC).

Virginia’s lone doubles win came from freshmen Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly, who defeated Dmitry Muzyka and Ramsey Smith at #2.

Virginia gained a foothold after first-year Huntley Montgomery beat Dmitry Muzyka at #3 and third-year Hyon Yoo defeated Jordan Wile at #4. The Blue Devils, however, took the remaining four singles games to win the match.

The Cavaliers return to action tomorrow against Florida State at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center, 11 AM.
