Meredith Elwell Named ACC Player of the Week in Field Hockey

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virg. – Cavalier junior Meredith Elwell (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) was named the ACC Player of the Week for her efforts last week in ACC field hockey.
Elwell scored twice on Sunday against Maryland to help the Cavaliers defeat the #8 Terrapins 3-2 in Charlottesville. Elwell scored once in each half as the sixth-ranked Cavaliers won their third consecutive game against the Terrapins. With the win, the Cavaliers move to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Elwell now has 43 goals and 20 assists in her career and is only the fifth person in Cavalier history to record 20+ goals and assists in a career. She is currently the Cavaliers’ leading scorer with 9 goals and 4 assists for 22 points. Her 43 goals ranks fourth all-time at Virginia.
