CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Student Athlete Mentors and the Institute forSubstance Abuse Studies at the University of Virginia will host the SeventhAnnual Shoot-Out Cancer Barbeque fundraiser in the UVa. Ampitheater onApril 25 from 12-5.

The event began in 1993 when Virginia soccer player Tom Henske donated hisNCAA championship ring for a raffle to benefit the American Cancer Societyin honor of one of his teammates who was fighting a battle with cancer.The Virginia student-athletes have continued to organize the event everyyear and build the Shoot-out into a campus tradition.

This year, the benefit will be sponsored by Chili’s, Hard Times Cafe andCoca-Cola, and will featuremusic, entertainment, games, and great prizes for all ages. All proceedswill be contributed to the Leukemia Society “Team in Training” and theAmerican Cancer Society. Admission is $5.00 and donations will beaccepted.
