Shamek Pietucha Named Weaver-James-Corrigan Scholarship Recipient

Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia’s Shamek Pietucha (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) was named a recipient of the prestigious Weaver-James-Corrigan scholarship by the Atlantic Coast Conference. Last season, the Edmonton, Alberta, native was named first-team Academic All-America and first-team All-America in the 200 butterfly. Pietucha was also honorable mention All-America in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.

This season, he has posted the best time by a Cavalier swimmer in the 100 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, the 100 butterly, the 200 butterfly, the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke. He is also a part of UVa’s top relay team in all relay events.
