ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Virginia softball team dropped a pair of games to Georgia Tech in a doubleheader at Glenn Field. The Cavaliers fell 5-3 in the first game, before falling short in the nightcap by a score of 2-0.

Stacey Zagol pitched game one for Virginia. She recorded eight strikeouts while giving up six hits in her outing. The Cavaliers posted nine hits in the game, highlighted by Atlanta, Ga. native Tish Tablan (3-4, 1 RBI). Amy Peay went (2-2, run), while teammates Jen Krill (1-1, double), Kelly McCabe (1-2, run), Lori Reese (1-3, double) and Beth Crimi (1-4, double) posted hits for UVa in the 5-3 loss.

Cory Bolkan started on the mound for Virginia in game-two. She pitched four innings, striking out three batters while scattering five hits. Bolkan was replaced by Chrisy Quinn in the fifth inning. Quinn charted two innings of work, striking out one batter and allowing only one hit. At the plate, the Cavaliers recorded five hits in the game. Corinne Good (1-2, double), Peay (1-3, double), Krill (1-3, double), Reese (1-3) and Tablan (1-3) each added hits in the 2-0 defeat.

With the losses, Virginia’s record moves to (32-23) overall. The Cavaliers will travel to College Park, Md. to face Maryland on Tuesday, (April 14) in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
