RUSTIN, La. – The University of Virginia softball team split a doubleheader with Louisiana Tech, dropping the first game 2-0 before bouncing back to take the nightcap 2-0. With the completion of the doubleheader, the Cavaliers wrapped up their spring trip in Louisiana by winning three of their last four games, finishing 3-5 overall on the trip.

Stacey Zagol pitched game one for the Cavaliers, striking out five batters while scattering five hits. Virginia was stifled at the plate offensively, as the Cavaliers managed only one hit in the game. Meaghan Young (1-3) recorded a double for UVa in the loss.

In game two, Chrisy Quinn started on the mound for Virginia. She threw a no-hitter, striking out seven Bulldog’s on the evening. The Cavaliers moved the bats in the second game as they posted seven hits, led by Beth Crimi (1-2, double) and Lori Reese (1-3, 1 RBI). Julie Amaon (1-1), Mariruth Graham (1-2), Stacy Holmes (1-3, run), Corinne Good (1-3) and Jen Krill (1-3) each added singles in the win.

The split moves Virginia’s record to (12-13) overall. The Cavaliers will return to home action on Wednesday, (Mar. 18) to host Radford in a doubleheader at The Park. Game one is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
