CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia softball team pulled out an 8-0 win in game-one with Radford, before the Cavaliers fell to the Highlanders 4-2 in the nightcap.

Chrisy Quinn started on the mound for UVa in game-one, recording six strikeouts while scattering three hits. Virginia had the bats moving, collecting nine hits in the game. Meaghan Young (2-3, 2 RBI, triple, run),

Lori Reese (2-2, 1 RBI, double, run) and Beth Crimi (2-3, 1 RBI, run) paced the Cavaliers at the plate. Stacy Holmes (1-3, 1 RBI, triple, run), Corinne Good (1-2, 1 RBI, run) and Karen Breshears (1-3, double) added hits for Virginia in the win.

In game-two, Radford snapped a seven-game losing streak as Cory Bolkan faced a rejuvenated Highlander squad. She pitched two and two-third innings, surrendering seven hits and three runs before being replaced by Quinn. The Cavaliers recorded five hits led by Reese (2-3, 1 RBI). Sadira Furlow (1-2, 1 RBI), Crimi (1-3, double) and Breshears (1-3, run) posted hits in the loss.

The split moves Virginia’s record to (13-14) overall. The Cavaliers will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Winthrop Invitational on March 20-21. Virginia will begin play in the tournament with Wichita State (1:00 p.m.) and UNC-Wilmington (8:00 p.m.) on Friday, and then play Dayton (11:00 a.m.) and Princeton (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
