CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Virginia softball team got back to its winning ways, taking a doubleheader from UNC-Charlotte. The Cavaliers won the first game 3-0, before claiming the nightcap by a score of 2-0. The victories snapped a four-game losing streak for Virginia.

In game-one, Stacey Zagol threw a one-hitter for UVa, striking out three batters in her outing. Virginia gathered eight hits at the plate, led by Corinne Good (2-3, 3 RBI), Lori Reese (2-3, 2 doubles, 2 runs) and Meaghan Young (2-4, double). Kelly McCabe (1-2, run) and Karen Breshears (1-3) added hits in the 3-0 win.

Chrisy Quinn took the mound in the second game and scattered five hits while striking out five batters. At the plate, the Cavaliers recorded only three hits, but converted two of them into runs. Tish Tablan (1-3, run), Beth Crimi (1-3, 1 RBI) and Mariruth Graham (1-3) gathered UVa’s hits. Breshears added an RBI in the 2-0 victory.

The wins improve Virginia’s record to (32-21) overall. The Cavaliers will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to face Georgia Tech on Saturday, (April 11) in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
