Team Camp Concept

Goal: The goal of these camps is to provide an opportunity for high schooland jr. high school teams to compete against outside competition during thesummer. It is an excellent opportunity for your team to get ahead of thecompetition by getting in some tough matches during the off-season.

Balance: Although these sessions are competition based, there will be agreat balance of technique sessions from outstanding clinicians and underthe supervision of JMU or UVA wrestlers. Because we cap the numbers @ 160campers, we remain a camp that is focused on competition and technicaldevelopment.

Individuals: Are welcome to the team camp. Typically, individuals will beput on a team when they arrive for camp.

Discount: Teams that bring 10 or more wrestlers will only pay $260 insteadof $285 per person. This cost includes room & board, instruction, and acamp T-shirt.

Commuters: The commuter fee will be $225 and includes lunch & dinnermeals, instruction, and a camp T-shirt.

Health Care:All camp members must have insurance. Campers will also be covered by arider insurance policy. You will be asked for insurance information afterregistering for the camp. A qualified trainer will be on hand at allwrestling and technique sessions. Use of the UVA and JMU training room willbe available for all campers.

Typical Camp Day

Camp Directors

Jeff Bowyer, Head Coach, JMU and Lenny Bernstein Head Coach, UVA

Jeff “Peanut” Bowyer-Coach Bowyer was a 2X NCAA East Region Champ and 3XNCAA Qualifier for James Madison Univ. He also set the JMU All-time winrecord with 125 victories. In 1995, he lead the JMU Dukes to a top 32finish in the NCAA Championship. Coach Bowyer was also an assistantfreestyle coach for a college all-star tour team in Hungary.

Lenny Bernstein-Coach Bernstein was a 1987 All-American and 2X ACC Champfor The University of North Carolina. In high school, he went 110-0winning 3 National Prep School Championships as well as The Jr. WorldFreestyle Championships. He coached the UVA Cavaliers to a 2nd placefinish in the ACC’s in 1997 and team championship at The VA IntercollegiateStates. He was also named 1997 “Coach of the Year” at The VA Intercollegiate States.

Clinic Staff

Kendall Cross-1996 Olympic Champion, NCAA Champion, 3X All-American for Oklahoma State University, 3X US Open Champion, 6th place in the 1992 Olympic Games.

Pat Milkovich-2X NCAA Champion, 4X NCAA finalist, 3x Big 10 Champ for Michigan State,college record: 90-8-4. Currrently head coach at Rochester Adams HS, MI.

Charlie Branch-assistant coach, UVA, All-American at Virginia Military Institute, 4 time Southern Conference Champion, 4X NCAA qualifier.

Donnie Reyes-assistant coach, UVA, 5th at The 1996 Olympic Trials, 7th at 1997US Open. Wrestled for Ariz. State. Former 3 year asst. at Drexel Univ.

Tim Alger-assistant coach at JMU, former asst coach at George Mason, 3 yearmember of The Hawkeye Club (Univ. of Iowa)
