University of Virginia senior DeMya Walker was named the MostValuable Player of the Women’s Basketball Association All-Star Challenge onMarch 27 in San Jose, Calif. Walker scored 11 points and pulled down 14rebounds for the West All-Stars who defeated the East All-Stars 70-44.

The game was part of the NCAA Final Four festivities and was played at theEvent Center at San Jose State University. The game featured the topseniors in the country including Chamique Holdsclaw (Tennessee), KellieJolly (Tennessee), Becky Hammon (Colorado State), Dominique Canty (Alabama)and Mery Andrade (Old Dominion).

Tamika Whitemore (Memphis) led the West team with 13 points and 10rebounds while Amy Herrig (Iowa) led the East with 15 points.

Virginia’s Monick Foote played 15 minutes for the East All-Starsand did not score. Other ACC players that participated were Itoro Umoh(Clemson,) Amy Geren (Clemson) and Chanel Wright (North Carolina).
