Women's Soccer Edged Out by Clemson, 2-1

ORLANDO, Fla.- Clemson’s Beth Keller scored once in each half to help the third-seeded Clemson Tigers defeat the second-seeded Virginia Cavaliers 2-1 today in the ACC Women’s Soccer semifinals in Orlando, Fla.
Clemson got on the board first as Keller launched a 15-yard shot into the far corner in the 27th minute of play. The Tigers held the lead at halftime 1-0.
Keller scored again in the second half off an assist from Sara Burkett in the 78th minute. Her shot went over the hands of Virginia keeper Megan Boehm (Howard, Md./Centennial) to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead.
Virginia avoided the shutout with a goal just 16 seconds before the end of regulation as sophomore Katie Tracy (Richmond, VA/James River) put the Cavaliers on the board in the as she hit from 15 yards out. She was assisted on the play by a pair of freshmen, Darci Borski (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) and Laura Gaworecki (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek).
Virginia now awaits a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Bids to the tournament will be made on Sunday evening at 9:30 EST. Virginia defeated James Madison 3-1 before falling to William and Mary 1-0 in the 1997 NCAA Tournament.
