Women's Soccer Falls in the 79th Minute

Williamsburg, Va.—Tribe sophomore Janet Sury headed the ball into the back of the net at the 79th minute off a header from junior Missy Wycinsky to give #8 William & Mary a 2-1 victory over #6 University of Virginia today at Barksdale Field. William & Mary improves its record to 4-0, while the Cavaliers drop to 3-2.
Two minutes into the game, the Tribe opened the scoring as junior Lindsay Nohl scored on a header to take a 1-0 lead. Virginia tied the score at the 24th minute mark when freshman Lori Lindsey (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) shot in a loose ball after a scramble in front of the net.
The Cavaliers outshot the Tribe 14-9. Virginia goalie Julie Harris (Ridgefield, CT/ Ridgefield) made 4 saves, while William & Mary goalie Michelle Horbaly made 11.
Virginia will host N.C. State on Friday, September 18. Game time against the Wolfpack is set for 7:00 at Klockner Stadium.
