BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team won its second match in a row today with a 9-0 whitewash of Marshall at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

The Cavaliers, winners of both spring matches so far, are 5-1 so far this season and are off to their best start since the 1992-93 season. The 9-0 shutout was UVA’s first since blanking N.C. State last season.

The Cavaliers made relatively quick work of the Thundering Herd, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Virginia’s senior co-captain Paige Boiko ended a two-match losing streak with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Alyssa Bengel. Sophomore Leslie Cook posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Stephanie Jamar, while Kelly Weaver gained a 6-1, 6-1 win over Marshall’s Elisa Conlon.

Virginia won all three doubles matches to finish out the match.

The Cavaliers face Virginia Tech Sunday (Feb. 21) at 9:00 a.m.
