ATLANTA – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team gained an important ACC win this afternoon by defeating Georgia Tech 5-4 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The win is Virginia’s eighth straight over the Yellow Jackets. Virginia is now 12-8 overall and 3-4 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 13-6 overall and 2-5 in the ACC.

The teams were tied 3-3 heading into doubles play. Virginia got singlesi wins from Paige Boiko at #1, Stacy Gingold at #2 and Christie Schweer at #5.

The Cavaliers clinched the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. Schweer and Leslie Cook raised their ACC record to 6-1 with an 8-4 win over Sybi Parker and Autumn Richards at #3.

Virginia concludes its regular season tomorrow at Clemson. The match is scheduled to begin at noon. The Cavaliers haven’t defeated the Tigers since 1989.
