CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Wake Forest swept the top five singles matches anddowned Virginia 7-2 in women’s tennis action today at the Sheridan SnyderTennis Center. The 19th-ranked Demon Deacons improve their record to 12-9this season and 6-1 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers falls to 11-8 overalland 2-5 in the ACC.

The visiting Demon Deacons won all four three-set matches to help theircause. Mariel Verban, the nation’s 10th-ranked player, downed Paige Boikoat #1 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The Deacs also got three-set wins at #2 from JanetBergman, at #4 from Jackie Houston and at #5 from Annemarie Milton.

Kelly Weaver was Virginia’s lone singles winner. She defeated Lea Miller6-3, 6-4 at #6.

Virginia concludes its regular season tomorrow at home against N.C. Stateat 2 p.m.
