Women's Tennis Loses to Wake Forest, 5-4

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The University of Virginia women’s tennis fell to #11 Wake Forest 5-4 this afternoon at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center. The loss drops Virginia to 10-7 (1-3 in the ACC).
The #34 ranked Cavaliers held a solid 4-2 lead after playing singles. Paige Boiko defeated Mariel Verban at #1, Stacy Gingold beat Nicola Kaiwai in straight sets at #2, first-year Leslie Cook won at #3 after upsetting Annemarie Milton, and first-year Christie Schweer defeated Terri Hiete at #5.
#11 Wake Forest, however, retaliated to capture all three doubles points and win the match in a clutch 5-4 victory.
Virginia returns to action tomorrow against N.C. State at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center, 2 PM.
