CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – University of Virginia men’s tennis coach Dick Stockton and his partner Jaime Fillol lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to Brian Gottfried and Tom Gullickson of the United States in the semifinals of the Gentlemen’s 45-and-Over Double Championships at Wimbledon Saturday.

The Cavaliers’ coach and his Chilean partner advanced to the semifinals following a 6-3, 6-4 win over Australians John Newcombe and Tony Roche on Friday.

Gottfried and Gullickson will battle Australians Ross Case and Geoff Master for the title on Sunday. They Australian duo defeated Ilie Nastase and Tom Okker 6-4, 6-7(7-5), 6-3.

Stockton and Fillol have played together in several tournaments during the 1990s. Two years ago they won Wimbledon’s 45-and-Over Doubles Championship. No stranger to Wimbledon, Stockton also reached the semifinals in singles in 1974 and was runner-up in mixed doubles in 1976.
