Cavaliers Complete Final Preseason Scrimmage

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA —Tailback Thomas Jones rushed for 143 yards and scoredthree times to highlight the University of Virginia’s final preseasonfootball scrimmage today. Jones scored on runs of 16, 23 and 45 yards.

Wide receiver Demetrius Dotson was the receiving leader with fivereceptions, including one for a touchdown.

Defensive back Jermaine Lauzon led the defensive effort with 10 tackles,while linebackers Yubrenal Isabelle and Shannon Taylor each had sevenstops. Taylor also recorded a quarterback sack. Other defensive leadersincluded Dwayne Stukes, who broke up two passes, and Tim Spruill whoreturned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown.

Place-kicker Todd Braverman connected on field goals of 20 and 23 yards,while David Greene kicked a 34-yard field goal.
