Virginia Women's Basketball Gets Four Commitments

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Four players, Kristin Ambrose (Minnetonka, Minn./The Blake School), Safiya Grant (Bronx, N.Y./Central Park East), Anna Prillaman (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) and Chelsea Whitaker (Dallas, Texas/Skyline) have signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at the University of Virginia next year.
Ambrose, a 5-11 guard from Minnetonka, Minn, is rated as the 64th best senior in the nation by the Blue Star Report. She is a Nike all-American and an honorable mention USA Today All-American. She recorded 11 points, two rebounds and two assists per game for The Blake School last season.
Grant, a 5-6 guard from Bronx, N.Y., averaged 27 points and six assists per game for Central Park East High School.
Prillaman, a 6-0 guard from Richmond, Va., averaged 21 points, six assists and three steals for Midlothian High School. She was named the Richmond Times-Dispatch co-player of the year and the player of the year in the Central Region last year as a junior.
Whitaker, a 5-9 guard from Dallas, Texas, is rated the 76th best senior in the Blue Star Report and the 37th best senior in the nation by the All-Star Report. She is an honorable mention All-American by USA Today and was named to the Dallas All-Area team. Whitaker averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists per game for Skyline High School.
