KENT, Ohio (AP) – Julie Studer scored 25 points, including a layup thatstarted Kent on a decisive surge late in the second half, as the Golden Flashesbeat No. 25 Virginia 85-74 Monday night.

Kent’s Bob Lindsay became the first women’s basketball coach in Mid-AmericanConference history to win 200 games.

With its first victory over a ranked opponent, Kent (14-4) ran its winningstreak to 11 games. Kent has won 27 in a row at home.

Three Virginia players fouled out, and Kent was 31-for-36 from the freethrow line. Studer made all 11 of her foul shots.

Schuye LaRue paced the Cavaliers with 19 points, but Virginia (14-5) saw its10-game winning streak snapped. LaRue scored 17 of her points in the secondhalf after playing just four minutes of the first half because of foul trouble.

Dawn Zerman scored 21 for Kent.

Telisha Quarles and Svetlana Volnaya each added 18 points for Virginia.

LaRue’s two free throws tied it at 68 with 4:56 left. Studer’s layup about20 seconds later put Kent ahead and Zerman followed with a 3-pointer. AlanaBader’s layup and free throw completed an 8-0 run.

Virginia narrowed Kent’s advantage to 78-74 with 1:10 left, but Kent’spoints after that all came at the line.
