CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 38th-ranked University of Virginia men’s tennisteam will play 19th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth in the first round of the2000 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. Thematch will take place at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center at VirginiaTech in Blacksburg.

The other match being played in Blacksburg between Virginia Tech andMississippi will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two winners will meeton Sunday, May 14 at 12 noon with the winner advancing to the round of 16at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. on May 20.

Virginia stands at 16-9 on the season and lost to Virginia Commonwealth(22-4) 5-1 in Richmond on April 6. The Cavaliers’ bid to the nationalcollegiate championships is their fourth in a row and ninth overall. UValost to South Alabama in the first round in 1999.
