Stanford, CA — Despite outshooting the Cardinal 14-11, the Virginia women’s soccer team fell to #10 Stanford tonight in the first night of the Stanford/Nike Tournament. The Cavaliers tied the game at 1-1 in the 29th minute, but the Cardinal scored once more in each period to take control of the match. With the loss, Virginia falls to 3-3 on the season while Stanford improves to 4-1. Lori Lindsey’s (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) goal in the match was only the second allowed by the Cardinal this season.

Virginia returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 17 as the Cavaliers take on the #19 Broncos of Santa Clara.
