STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Cavaliers fourth-year tennis players Brian Vahaly (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) and Huntley Montgomery (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) advanced to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men’s All-American Championships.

Vahaly and Montgomery are the tournament’s seventh seed and are attempting to capture their first-ever doubles championship at an ITA grand slam event. They lost in the finals at the slam’s first leg, the T. Row Price National Clay Court Championships, last month.

The Cavaliers’ team beat Texas’ Ronald Kloppert and Jean Simon Friday afternoon (October 13), 6-4, 6-3, before downing BYU’s Carlos Lozano and Gert Vilms in the second round, 6-3, 6-4. Montgomery and Vahaly play SMU’s Genius Chidzikwe and Jon Wallmark Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Chidzikwe and Wallmark took out the tournament’s top seeds, Marco Baron and Charles Sevigny from Mississippi State in the second round.

Vahaly is scheduled to play a quarterfinal singles match Saturday (October 14) at 10:00 a.m. He will return for his quarterfinal doubles match with Montgomery at 1:30 p.m.
